We meet this demand primarily by burning CO2-emitting stored fossil fuels. Meanwhile, the world\u2019s trees, bacteria, and algae capture ten times that amount of power from the sun through the process of photosynthesis. Dr. Ted Sargent works with researchers in the physical and plant sciences and with engineers to understand Nature\u2019s ways and find methods to capture and store solar energy as efficiently as Nature does. Ted Sargent holds the Canada Research Chair in Nanotechnology at the University of Toronto, where he also serves as Vice Dean for Research for the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE) for his contributions to the development of solar cells and light sensors based on solution-processed semiconductors.
