DESCRIPTION:John Valliant\, McMaster University \nThursday February 27\, 2014 \nThe way we diagnose and treat diseases like cancer is changing. Where once we settled for comparatively simple X-ray images\, today medical isotopes and molecular imaging probes give us far more comprehensive views of the human body’s inner workings. These new technologies enable us to detect cancer earlier\, identify effective treatment options and to provide ongoing monitoring of patients. Such success is driving a global effort to develop\, evaluate and commercialize even more technologies using radioisotopes to improve patient care. Dr. John Valliant\, an internationally recognized expert in medical isotopes and imaging\, will explain what medical isotopes are\, how they are used and Canada’s position as a global scientific and commercialization leader in this exciting field. Dr. John Valliant is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology\, McMaster University and the CEO of the Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization (CPDC)\, a centre of excellence for commercialization and research (CECR) dedicated to helping academics and industry develop new radioisotope-based products. The CPDC also plays an important role\, manufacturing and delivering a reliable\, daily supply of imaging probes to hospitals. \nJohn Valliant\, McMaster University \nJeudi le 27 février 2014 \nLes modes de diagnostic et de traitement des maladies comme le cancer évoluent.
