DESCRIPTION:Dr. Yoshua Bengio\, Université de Montréal \nThursday September 28\, 2017 \nMachine learning\, and more specifically deep learning\, will generate immense wealth and transform economies over the coming decade. Yoshua Bengio will discuss Canada’s leadership in the stunning scientific revolution that is bringing machines ever closer to human-\nlevel intelligence\, and the serious questions these technologies now pose for decision-makers. With global companies investing massively to secure the benefits of automation\, how does Canada maximize the chance of seeing the ‘Google’ or ‘Facebook’ of artificial intelligence created and anchored here? How do we ensure that enough wealth remains in the country to finance our social safety net and training programs through a period of accelerated workplace disruption? \nYoshua Bengio\, holds a Canada Research Chair and co-directs the CIFAR program that saw the birth of deep learning. He is also scientific director of IVADO and heads the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA)\, currently the largest academic research group on deep learning worldwide. In 2016\, he co-founded Element AI\, now the largest Canadian AI company\, and is working towards developing the AI ecosystem in Montreal and in the rest of Canada. En outre\, il est directeur scientifique de l’Institut de valorisation des données (IVADO) et dirige l’Institut des algorithmes d’apprentissage de Montréal (MILA)\, à l’heure actuelle le plus important groupe de recherche universitaire au monde sur l’apprentissage profond. En 2016\, il a cofondé Element AI\, qui est maintenant la plus importante entreprise canadienne dans le domaine de l’intelligence artificielle et il travaille à l’élaboration de l’écosystème de l’intelligence artificielle à Montréal et dans le reste du Canada.
